The crew behind the race

Meet the team

In 2023 this race was two runners and a wild idea. It still runs on the same small crew of family, friends and neighbors, plus a couple hundred volunteers who show up every Labor Day weekend like it's a family reunion.

Race directors

Karyn Reinhardt & Mark Congel

Karyn grew up in Sackets Harbor and has run over 80 races: 18 marathons (Boston four times), 30 halves, and an Ironman. Mark has 65+ races under his belt across 5 marathons, 6 halves, and more trail and obstacle races than he'll admit. They live in Liverpool, NY, and spend a suspicious amount of the year thinking about water station placement.

And the crew

Behind them is a small army of family, friends and neighbors: the volunteer coordinators, the operations crew, the DJ, the hype squad, the merch table, the 360° photo hosts, and the parking team waving you into a grass lot before sunrise. You'll meet them all on race weekend; they're the reason it feels like a family reunion.
