Water station contest

The Water Station Contest

Every aid station on this course is run by a local team: soccer clubs, cheer squads, PTOs, walking groups. Every finisher votes for their favorite: the crew that lifted them, made them laugh, or just nailed the handoff. You are the race.

How it works

Two contests, one loud morning

Every finisher votes

Voting opens as runners cross the finish line and closes Tuesday at noon. Results are announced Tuesday evening on the contest page ↗.

Two divisions, two winners

One winner from Stations 1–5, where every runner votes. One from Stations 6–10, voted only by full-marathon runners; they're the only ones who see them.

Win on personality

Themes, costumes, music, signs: bring whatever makes runners remember you. Last year's ballots raved about a kid in a monkey costume with a squirt gun and an orange slice at the turnaround.

$500

to each division's winning group

$400

to each second-place team

$300

to every other team on the course

Every group walks away with a check. Thank you to Chrissy Beanz for sponsoring the contest, and to every volunteer who hands a cup to a stranger at mile 20.
