That's a wrap

You did it. Thank you for running.

The 5th Sackets Harbor Marathon & Half Marathon is in the books. Here's everything from race day.

Vote for your favorite water station

Which crew got you through it? Check your email for your ballot: every finisher gets one, and voting closes Tuesday at noon. Two groups win $500 for their clubs, and every team on the course takes home a check.

The water station contest

Voting has closed and the winning crews are up on the contest page. Thank you to every team that stood out there handing cups to strangers.

Tell other runners

A review is the single most useful thing you can do for a small race. If you had a good morning out there, a few sentences on any of these helps someone else find us:

To every runner, volunteer, sponsor and neighbor who made it happen: thank you. See you next year.

What's included

Every runner here is a VIP.

At a big race, VIP is something you buy: closer parking, a shorter bathroom line, your own photos. Here there's no upgrade to buy, because everybody already has it. Park close to the start, leave your gear in the car, and download every photo of yourself for free. The long list keeps going.

The finisher hoodie

Not a t-shirt. A premium midweight hoodie that's become the thing people spot in airports. The 2027 design is still in the works.

RaceJoy live tracking so your people can follow you every mile

🅿️ Free parking right beside the start and finish, open at 5 AM: no shuttles, no paid VIP lot, and your car doubles as gear check

"This race is perfect for newer runners as well as those looking to qualify for Boston! This race is all inclusive and even strongly supports those of us that are very slow every bit as much as those amazing qualifiers."
Sarah H., first half marathon · 2026 · Marathon Guide
"Absolutely will be going back every single year."
Kdonovan220, first-timer · 2026 · RaceRaves
"No detail went unplanned and it was all to authentically bring joy to the runners. It was the perfect size and course for my first marathon. If you are thinking about trying a marathon, pick this one, you won’t be disappointed."
Sarah C., first marathon · 2025 · Marathon Guide
"The best race ever! It will be in my heart for ever! The scenic course, the volunteers, the beautiful city of Sackets, everything! Perfect!"
Elsa L. · 2024 · Marathon Guide
"The organizers clearly paid attention to detail, such as managing the parking. Lots of enthusiastic volunteers made this a successful race."
Eckhard S. · 2024 · Marathon Guide
"Course is more varied than you would expect between the harbor, residential areas and farmland. If you go out conservatively it gives you a good opportunity to negative split, taking advantage of the net downhill on the way back to the finish."
Michael Y. · 2023 · Marathon Guide

The course

Out-and-back. Lakeside. Built for a PR.

Down Main St with the crowds, out onto quiet rolling farm roads, and a gentle descent home toward the lake. Negative-split bait, honestly.

  • ✓ USATF-certified marathon & half, so your time counts for Boston
  • ✓ ~570 ft of gain across the full, 246–470 ft elevation range
  • ✓ 6-hour limit (≈13:45/mile) for both races

The sound of the finish area

Ring the bell.

Set a PR? First time finishing the distance? Punched your ticket to Boston? Walk to the Doc & Wylma Reinhardt Legacy PR/BQ Bell, given by their family, and ring it like you mean it.

Five years in, the bell is the sound of race morning at Sackets.

The village

Sackets Harbor doesn't watch this race. It throws it.

Residents line the streets, the Chamber runs golf-cart shuttles, local teams in costume staff every aid station, and an awards ceremony where nobody's name gets skipped. Come for the BQ; leave adopted by a village.

Runners give back, too: 210 of them added $3,308 at checkout in 2026, split between the Sackets Harbor Fire Department and Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Service.

Year five. Be part of it.
